Psychological flexibility is about your capacity to:
- take action in line with your values; even when painful thoughts and emotions are pushing you to back away
- treat your painful thoughts and feelings with compassion rather than reacting to them
- flexibly bring your attention to what is important
In the psychology literature, low psychological flexibility is associated with a wide range of poor outcomes.
We suspect that psychological flexibility will also be important in creating meaningful success.
There is an excellent review of the research on psychological flexibility by Todd Kashdan et al here.
